Back in October 2013, I had the chance to attend and film a truly special event at NYCH Gallery in Chicago — MARK BODE x DR. REVOLT, hosted by Momentum. The show brought together some incredible talent from Chicago’s graffiti and street art community, along with two legendary artists who helped shape the culture itself.
The Gallery and the Artists
Mark Bodē, the son of underground comics legend Vaughn Bodē, carries on his father’s unique cartoon-inspired style while expanding it with his own vibrant work. Dr. Revolt, best known for his role in the groundbreaking 1983 film Wild Style, is a true pioneer of New York graffiti and hip-hop culture. Seeing these two legends share space with local Chicago artists was something special.
The show featured an amazing lineup — Teel One, C3PO, Tokeo, Eror, Ryne, Hadji, Jake Huber, M?rk Flores, Goma, Vespa, and many more. Each artist brought their own style and energy, filling the gallery with color, character, and history.
The atmosphere was electric — artists, fans, and friends all gathered to celebrate creativity, culture, and the roots of graffiti.
A Lasting Memory
I was lucky enough to capture the event on film, documenting the artists and their work throughout the night. Even more memorable — I was able to purchase a clay sculpture from Mark Bodē himself, a one-of-a-kind piece that reminds me of that unforgettable night.
This event wasn’t just another gallery show — it was a bridge between generations, a mix of old-school legends and new voices keeping the art form alive in Chicago.
